I have been trying for a couple of years to trace more information on my gt grandfather - John Taylor 1854

I know that he married Elizabeth(Ann) Bunting at the Parish Church in Handsworth Staffs on 25 Aug 1875 and that he was aged 22 and a Smith by trade. His father also a John Taylor - occupation -smith. was not a witness at the wedding.

Witnesses were Charles Bunting father of Elizabeth and an Eliza Bunting. Charles was a carpenter.

I cannot fin in censuses any details of the Bunting family - but I can't be certain where they were from. Altho 1881 census if correct family would suggest that Eliz. Ann was born in Birmingham

I know that John and Elizabeth had a son in 1891 Sept 22 179 Windmillhill St Motherwell Scotland - Blacksmith Journeyman.

I cannot find them in 1891 or 1901 census neither Eng/Scot. I know that they moved back to Rotherham Yorks by about 1914.

in 1881 I find John and Elizabeth taylor and 2 yr old Ann E Taylor living in Aston Birmingham witha birth place - Rowley Regis.

1871 JT b Rowley Regis is living with father John Taylor b 1826 in Wandsworth Surrey - blacksmith and mother Mary and various siblings

JT senior does not appear in 1881 census poss he has died hence not a witness at wedding

Does anyone have any suggestions where I go next in my search to take this any further and how do I prove I have found the right JTjunior i n 1881 census. Family info does not have any knowlede af Ann junior.

Any helpful suggestions gratefully received.

Firstly, what addresses were given for the Bride and Groom on the marriage cert?

Did they & witnesses all sign the certificate, or is it just the mark of?

May seem simple, but it gives an idea of literacy level

Peter, does it just say Parish church Handsworth, or does it say Paris Church of St.Michael?

Thanks for questions.
There seem to be signatures but they are all very similar style but there are no crosses.

It is just the Parish Church

There is a Thomas Bunting living in Handsworth in 1871 Census, it could be a relative with whom they stayed.

I will have a look in greater detail, and maybe come back to you in a couple of days if no-one else does
