Looking for information regarding ALBERT TAYLOR b.1869 in CHIEVELY, Berkshire to Elisha George Taylor (born c.1849) and Emily Ann Smallbones. Albert spent 20 years in the army before returning to Reading, Berkshire in 1908. According to his military records, he married ESTHER ANN PAYNE in 1896 in Colchester who died shortly after the birth of their daughter HELEN VICTORIA MAUD TAYLOR in 1897. I believe Helen went to live with her grandfather Elisha until her father left the army. Albert remarried in 1908 to my great-grandmother Ellen Kate Holt and they had 4 children; Bert, Minnie, Elsie and George (my grandfather). Albert died in the Reading Workhouse in 1915 shortly after the birth of my grandfather. I have a photograph of Albert and his family standing outside a pub “The Bird in Hand” which is I believe in Arborfield, Berks. His name is above the door of pub and I think the photo was taken in around 1912. Does anyone have information about Albert’s last years or what happened to his first daughter Helen. Would also appreciate any other info on the Taylors in Chievely. |
