Trying to confirm the family of Louisa Talbot born around 1851. On various census her birthplace is recorded as Born at Sea, West Bromwich and Middlesex.. In 1871 Louisa birthplace is given as “at sea” and she is described as a servant living in the York Hotel, Fulwood Road, Sheffield. In 1911 Census recorded as born at sea. She married William Coleman in Sheffield on 23 September 1872 and on the marriage certificate it is difficult to read the name and occupation of her father but it could be Aaron Talbot with occupation Roller or Broker. However I believe that her parents may have been James Talbot born 1824 in Greenwich and Augusta Louisa Addams born 1822 Grahamstown, Cape of Good Hope. Been unable to find Louisa, or her parents in 1851 Census but in 1861 James was a Pawnbroker living in Sheffield with wife Augusta Louisa and 4 children but not a Louisa.

I have a other information on James b1824 and his relatives and also information on Augusta Louisa Addams family which am happy to share.

Thanks for your response to my trying to find Louisa Talbot b1851.
I had been unable to find her possible parents in the 1851 Census - just had another search on Findmypast without success. The entry that you found is definitely the James and Augusta that I am interested in - they were married in Lewisham 1851Q1 and Augusta middle name is definitely Louisa. Augusta had returned from South Africa by 1841 Census and was living with her Aunt Elizabeth Curling in Deptford Kent. There is an Isle of Man conection as another daughter Margaret was born there in 1863. I can track James b1825 through to the 1901 Census by which time he had moved back to Deptford and was married to Charlotte the widow of his cousin Henry Woolverton.

Louisa may have been born prior to parents marriage in which case she may be Adams.

It is a possibility that she may have been born before her parents got married which was in Lewisham, Kent in 1851Q1 but were in Sheffield at time of 1851 Census (see Andrew's post above). But there is a Louisa Talbot of right age in 1871 Census working at the York Hotel in Sheffield and also a possible sister Augusta b1857 working nearby in a Lodging House. The York Hotel is still there and I understand is now a student pub.

I believe that Louisa's mother Augusta Louisa Talbot died in Bakewell, Derbyshire Q3 1865

1851 census posted gives Augusta with middle name Teresa.

There is a transcription error in the 1851 Census - it is definitely Augusta Louisa Talbot born in Cape of Good Hope.
