I've been trying to piece together the Clissett tree for a number of years. If you have this name in your tree ( even if there is only one of them ) could you please contact me with the details . All the Clissett folk are linked in some way . They appeared in the Hereford / Gloucestershire / Worcestershire circa 1600 . Some branched off to Newport / Barry areas of Monmouthshire around 1850 ( ish ).
Any info ( especially of stray / lone Clissett folk ) appreciated . Even if the name is spelt slightly differently.
Thank you Amanda

Hi there! I have come across a Mary Clissett in my tree, born 1734 in Longdon, Worcestershire so in the area you are looking at. Mary married a William Ellery/Hellery in 1753 in Beckford, Gloucestershire, they had four children, samuel, William, Sarah and Mary. Samuel being my ancestor, his line carried on down to my 2 x great grandmother Mary ann Ellery, I have not been able to get any further with the Clissett name, although I have just found a couple in the Bredon parish registers which is between Longdon and Beckford, so am researching as to whether there may be any link there. Kindest regards Heather

Hello Amanda Although your post re the Clissett tree is quite old, I thought it was probably still worth replying. There are many Clissetts in our family tree (my mother-in-law was a Clissett descended from Philip, the chairmaker). I am particularly interested in any Clissetts who were chairmakers, and have logged 14 so far. So, is there any possibility of swapping information? All the best Terry
