Find Ancestors

I have been asked by my mother to help her find her birth father. She lost contact with him about 15-20 years ago.
The problem being i am not sure how to go about finding him.
He has quite a common name so of course there could be many of him.
This is what we know.
His name Robert Alan Stevens born 1944 Islington, UK.
He married my nan Shirley May Toner in 1964 in Thurrock Essex, but were divorced by 1968.
He was then with a lady named Jasmine (surname unknown) who was a fire eater and died of the meths used during one of her acts! We are not sure what year she died but am pretty sure he was married to her.
He then married another lady name unknown about 1990.
All of this would be in Essex, and is believed that he is still living in Essex.
He had/has a sister named Kathleen M Stevens born 1946 in Islington.
His parents were Kathleen Luscombe and Kenneth Stevens both born 1920/1921.
My mother is believed to be his only child.

My mum had a feeling a couple of months back that Robert had passed away (she had the same feeling the day my grt nan died) I know this doesnt mean anything, i have tried calling the local reg offices and they dont have any record of a death for him.

I dont know what else i would do to try to find him or any living relatives, for example his sister or similar to be able to get in contact with.

I did find this death which is the only death registered for Jasmine Stevens between 1916 - 2005. I guess the year of birth would be about right as Robert was born 1944 so would make her 5 years older than him which is quite possible. And she died aged only 30 which also sounds correct given the circumstances of my Jasmine's death.

The only way to find out if that is "your"Jasmine is to send for it I am afraid.
Although I could not find a marriage for her or a birth,so she may just have taken the name Stevens.

Jasmine appears to have 2 names. Perhaps one was a stage name.

The death record is for a Jasmine *M*.

Found a Jasmine J Biswas born 1938 in Hampstead who married a Chamberlain.

I'm guessing Jamine Trevanna was a stage name. Very few Trevannas are listed.

And the way I see it is if it were me looking for my father I wouldnt mind it all being here as then he may actually be found,wether he liked it or not !

Well ......... Ian has the possible 1990 marriage now, and only the certificate will tell whether that's his grandfather. There's also a 1991 in Waltham Forest which I think could qualify as Essex, does he have that?

If he can confirm the marriage he'll know the wife's name.

The 1990 couple are on the electoral roll, aged 65+; the 1991 couple, can't tell, some approximate matches on the electoral roll.

The one i have found is Robert A Stevens aged 65+ living in Barking, with a Mary K Stevens.

Roberts latest wife that we know of (the one he married about 1990, which we believe to be Mary K Wiggett), had two children from a previous relationship/marriage.

Which would have been born in the late 70's we presume

Ian has asked for a lookup on Records and has been directed from there .:)

Someone has pm'd me asking if i actually ever got the electoral roll look up and i have replied saying that i havent so hopefully they will come back with some hopeful details for me, so i will wait to hear from her before i contact either of the 2 you suggested.

Sorry but im only asking for some help and advice as not had to do this before but just feel i am another person that has become a firing target.
