I have just started doing this so bear with me if I am not too good at the moment. I am searching for the Bennett family who were connected to the Smith family back in the late 1800s. An unknown Smith (f) was married to a Mr Bennett and had children called Ernest, Margaret, Joan, Doris, Jack, Albert and Dennis Bennett ... all born c1900. Their mother (name unknown) had an affair while her husband (the Bennett chap) was off to war and she got pregnant with my Grandfather. As he was not Bennetts son .. he was called by her maiden name of Smith ... his name being George Beven-Smith b 4/12/1912 in Newark Uk .. died in Cleethorpes c1997. George went on to marry Phyllis Meggitt who then had five daughters. Can anyone give me the names of his mother and step father (Smith - Bennett). Nothing is known of his biological father except he was a gentleman farmer in the newark area and am assuming his surname was Beven. I am assuming the rest of the Bennett clan were also born in Newark area. I hope this helps jog someones memory. Many thanks ... Julie |
