Hi there i am currently looking for info on Andrew Hunter Smith my grandfather, he was born in glasgow 23-04-1923 and married my grandmother Isabella Mckenna Miller Mcneil on 01-12-1944. My mother was born 07-09-1945 her name is Williamina Mcneil Smith. They all moved to Doncaster 1954 when my mother was only 9 years old. My grandfather worked in local pit in barnsley. A few years later my grandparents split up but my mother remained with my grandfather. She worked in Doncaster market next to Woolworths and also worked at a place called Pecks or Pex don`t know correct spelling. My mother moved back to Glasgow 1961 or 1962 and left my grandfather on his own. Years later there was an advert in local Glasgow newspaper asking whereabouts of my mother or grandmother because my grandfather had passed away. It was between 1972 and 1974 we don`t know exact date as my grandmother passed away soon after. I would love to get copy of my grandfathers death certificate but don`t know where to start. Does this name mean anything to anybody, if so please contact me through e-mail i would be very grateful for any info Regards Caroline |
