Trying to find John William Edward Smith

I am trying to find information about John William Edward Smith who was a Sergeant in the British Indian Army based at Bihar, Dinapore, India in 1862. He married 'Seema Kumar' that year. He moved to Madras in 1864.

well I've just trawled through the India records site and you wuld be amazed how many William Smith's served in India - failed to find his marriage - sorry

Dear Ann,

I am looking for JOHN William Edward SMITH, who was the father of JOHN Patrick SMITH who was born in Dinapore, India(1901 census)

JOHN Patrick SMITH (my wife's grandfather) was a musician serving with the Royal Marines at Plymouth, Devon, married Bridget Mooney from Ireland about 1894. Their first child (John Patrick) was born in Cork, Ireland in 1896, and they had at least 8 more children who were born in England.

JOHN Patrick SMITH(Snr) died at Scarborough, North Yorkshire 22nd February, 1944.
If this information will help I would be very grateful if you could assist me further.
