Hi, I do not think my reply went through just now.
It seems that I really have to be in touch with the three siblings descendents (if possible) I have done all I can now.
The three children were born to Ernest Richard Smith and Dorothy winifred Blow. Barbara Mary, b. 1919 Edith Rose, b. 1913, and Leslie Ernest b. 1920 all born Isle of Wight, brading. I went back to see if they had children and that is what I found. I sent for certs.
They were married in 1912.
My friends mum Lilian Joan Smith was born 1924 to Dorothy Winifred blow. I have cert. There is no father named, no deceased entered.
Two weeks later Dorothy died. On her death cert.(I have) she was the widow of Ernest Richard Smith (deceased)
The last child was born 1920 and so Ernest Richard Smith died after that and before 1924.
I cannot find his death on the Isle of wight
So unless Ernest died whilst Dorothy was pregnant it is unlikeky that Lilians father was Ernest.
Lilian was adopted at three years. We do not know where she went from birth.
Dorothys mother Louise Blow ( nee Gosden) married Frederick Blow, she was present at dorothys death. It was a large family so I wonder why Lilian was not taken in. STIGMA ?
My friend would like to know the descendents of her real grand-mother Dorothy Winifred Blow) She never knew her grand-mother nor did her mum Lilian know her.
I have been in touch with www.archives.co.uk . The county hall newport, and Isle of Wight county record office. They have no idea where Lilian was before adoption. I do have the adoption cert.
