What became of Cyril? - or any of the family

Cyril Breakspeare Smith b1890, Tottenham, Middlesex. Son of Edmund Breakspeare & Beatrice (nee Robinson). Had sisters Clara & Helena.

I can find the children and their mother living with her parents in 1891, no sign of Edmund.

In 1896 Edmund leaves the UK bound for Argentina - he is shown as single, profession 'artiste'.

Can't find any of them in 1901. The family may have travelled around, Clara is shown as being born in Germany.

Still looking for Cyril and his family.

Cyril was born 4th Jan 1890. His baptism record gives the family address as Gloucester Tce, West Green Rd, Tottenham. His father Edmund gives his profession as Musician.

Have been having a little poke to no avail so far.

You can find the children and their mother in 1891 - I can't. Which site are you using, and how are they transcribed, if not correctly? Where are they living?

Since you mention sisters but not their birth dates or places, and ditto for the mother, I was looking for the household to get a handle on all the members.

Well, I've found them in 1891 - as Smith??

Jasper Robinson 64
Helena Robinson 37
Rosalie E Robinson 28
Beatrice Robinson 25 - born London
-- mistranscribed: she is Beatrice Smith
Helena Smith 3 - born Enfield, Middlesex
Cyril Smith 2/12 - born Tottehnam
Clara B Smith 8 - born Germany

Civil parish: Tottenham

Are you related to / in contact with the person who has corrected Beatrice's name at Ancestry? -- "Original shows her as Smith (married name)".

Ah yes.

Marriages Sep 1887
Robinson Beatrice Fylde 8e 931
SMITH Edmund Breakspeare Fylde 8e 931

Births Mar 1890
SMITH Cyril Breakspeare Edmonton 3a 341

Right, if "Smith" was in the header to start with, I missed it I guess. And I can just never read things like

"Son of Edmund Breakspeare & Beatrice (nee Robinson)"

as meaning anything other than that there are two people:

Edmund, Mr. Breakspeare
Beatrice, Ms. Robinson

Anyhow, now we have the details of the people in question.

Searching for Smith, occupation artiste, in 1881, there are a couple of interesting ones:

Name: James Smith
Age: 15
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1866
Relation: Boarder
Where born: Hackney, Middlesex, England
Occupation: Gymnastic Artiste (Perfor...)

Name: Albert Smith
Age: 13
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1868
Relation: Boarder
Where born: Hackney, Middlesex, England
Occupation: Gymnastic Artiste

Civil parish: Manchester

Interesting that they're of an age to be brothers of Edmund, are from London living in Manchester (Edmund married in Fylde district), and of course are performers.

Of course, they're also Smiths ... of which there is no shortage - but these are the only "artiste" Smiths in 1881.

Unfortunately the two Smith's you have found are not related. Edmund is a 'one off' as far as I can see. His father was a solicitor, two of his brothers were clerks and the third a schoolmaster!

I know from his parents 1911 census return that Edmund was still alive then.

I've followed each of Beatrice's siblings to 1911 to see if she turns up with them - but to no avail.

Googling Edmund brings up some music publications . I suspect he may have ended up in America.
