I was born in 1955 in Manchester.My birth surname was Wilson.I was addopted, and my birth mother i believe knew my addopted mother.They kept my first & second names but i became Smith.Can anyone help.

Have had a quick look at the birth registration indexes. Would you please advise the month of your birth and possibly the town you were born in

Sorry, you did say Manchester was town of birth.
There was a registration of a Anthony R.Wilson, October/November/December 1955 in Manchester, reference no 10e 421.
Mother's maiden name recorded as Bell. If you think that this is you & if you do not have it you can purchase a copy of your original birth certificate from a Manchester registry office.

It should be your birth mother's maiden name.
