I just wondered if anyone can find Samuel Barker born 1842 Stowmarket on the 1891 census please . He went to London and was on the 1871 and 1881 census in clerkenwell. Wife was Eliza born 1842 Clerkenwell (but I dont know if she is still alive in 1891) and children Samuel who is married by 1891, Eliza who I think is married to someone called North as she has a child in 1881 and her surname is North but I cant find a marriage for her yet and she is living with her parents but no husband and Anne born 1866 and she is married in 1884 Samuel next appears in 1901 in st georges Holborn union workhouse and it says he is married. He is living with daughter An n in 1911 as a widower
His occupation is a Iron Moulder
thank you Ann

hi Julie
thanks for the marriage of Eliza Barker. Its looks as if she was heavily pregnant with William when she married. Eliza was only 17 on the 1881 census when she was put doen as Eliza North with child William North age 2 months.
I expect she had to get married. I wonder where Thomas was in 1881 as he was not with Eliza ?
thank you so much I will see if I can find them on the next census

THANK YOIU Julie it looks as if he stayed at home until they could find somewhere to live together
and THANK YOU Maureen
I would never have expected Eliza to be a widow so young thats why I could not find her on the next census. WELL DONE
All I have to do now is try to solve Samuel and his wife Eliza or Lucy
I have been looking for Samuel and lucy on later census but cannot and wondered if there could have been 2 Samuel Barkers who were both iron moulders would be odd though maybe Lucy is a new wife if only I could find a death for Eliza then I could be sure and find a marriage for Samuel and Lucy and i could send for ther marriage certificate to see if he was widowed on marriage to Lucy
Thank you both

Now....i can't find any of them so went off looking for their birth & every-time i thought bingo there's a birth......id then go back into the 1901 & they'd be the child of someone else
So im wondering if......Samuel made that whole family up ________________________

Hi Julie
I have trried the same thing looked for each child in the 1901 census but cant find any of them
the only samuel barker and Lucy |I could find was married in 1905 to Lucy Edwards in pancras which is the wrong area #maybe look tomorrow although I have to go to work in the afternoon.
Maureen just looked at the 1911 census properly and I am surprised you could find this at all quite a muddle with names. I did wonder if there was another NORTH child and there was according to that
going to bed now thanks everyone

sory Julie I did see that you had put another possible child for Eliza and Thomas north and the 1911 census confirmed this for me
What I meant was I had wondered before I found out that Eliza had another child as she only had the one in 1881 and no husband with her and I had not found out husbands name until you told me thanks for that as of course she did not appear on the 1891 census with husband and of course thats because he had died which I did not know.
have started putting information on my tree but need to go and get dressed and go food shopping before work
thank you for all your hard work
