Trying to fnd Elizabeth Rule 1854/55 born Balsham Cambridgeshire. Her father was Thomas Rule also of Balsham. She married a policeman William Smith in 1881 Croydon and had two childen Alfred 1884 and Ethel 1890. Hello, I am Hilary I am a Rule. While searching for my family on the census records I seem to remember coming accross Thomas and Elizabeth. And although not directly connected I think there is a link somewhere. most of the rule came from Balsham as it was a farming community. some moved into the London suburds like mine they moved to Bromley area. I could never understand why I had a lot of photos of cambridge, especially Balsham with relatives that I know nothing about. I am now beginning to understand the movement of families over the years. But it is certainly worth checking census records as this can tell you an awful lot. good hunting.
