Find Ancestors

I am struggling to find the parents of Alexander Riddell who was born c1805 probably in Aberdeenshire. In Jun 1829 Alexander married Jane Craik in Fyvie/Auchterless, Aberdeenshire. He died in Kirkill, Fyvie in 1848 at the age of 43.
The IGI indicates only two possibilities; one born to John Riddell and Margaret Kelly in Foveran, Aberdeenshire in Oct 1804 and the other born to Alexander Riddell and Hope Sangster in Newmachar, Aberdeenshire in Mar 1806. The former possibility can be excluded because he died in Aberdeen in 1857 but the latter is proving diffcult to verify. Can anyone help me?

Does the 1841 census indicate that his birth was in Aberdeenshire?

Yes it does, although the census record was probably completed by his surgeon as I suspect Alexander was receiving some local health treatment at the time. So the surgeon might not have clear about his birth place

You may get lucky Colin if he died in Scotland after 1855,as if known, it will be on his death certificate.,,,,,,,both parents plus a maiden name of mother.

Alexander died in 1848 so there is no reference to his parents in the OPR record of his death

Can you see any evidence of the Scottish naming pattern from the children of the two Alexanders?

Have you found the burials of either to find who they are buried with?

My Alexander Riddel who married Jane Craik had 7 children in the following order, Barbara, Alexander, Margaret, Peter, John, Mary & Jane
I do not think the couple confomed to the Scottish naming pattern because her father's name was Peter and her mother's name was Mary although both names have been used by them
The Alexander Riddell who married Hope Sangster had 4 children according to the IGI viz Margaret b 1802, Jean b 1804 Alexander b 1806, Charles b 1809. Only Charles does not feature in the family of my Alexander Riddell

Going by Scotland naming pattern his Father should be Alexander.James Riddell is the only other in thte area ,could be a Brother.
