RENWOOD, ANSELL, VIENNA or WEEKES

Sandra Report 7 Oct 2009 01:33

I recently discovered my father was adopted.

He passed away quite a number of years ago and in June of this year, found out his sister was looking for his siblings after finding out that her full blood brother had died. Unfortunately after making initial contact with his sister, she has not responded to our letter of almost 2½ months ago so I continue the search for answers on my own.

He was the third of six children and now my family and I want to find out where our genes really stem from. Ideally, a great find would be to discover why a mother would have 2 children, adopt the third one out, and then continue to have 3 more, but I think it is too late to find this out as I’m told that anyone who may have known anything, has since passed.

Any information anyone may have on the lives of Albert Joseph RENWOOD born 1902, his wife Linda Coral ANSELL born 1903, or John Thomas RENWOOD or Mary Teresa VIENNA (the father and mother of Albert) or Alan(?) ANSELL or Elizabeth WEEKES (parents of Linda Coral) would be truly appreciated. From the information I have so far, Albert was born in Geelong and Linda in Tasmania and both worked at a pub in Kensington Vic and I think lived in Abbotsford or in that vicinity. Children’s’ names in birth order are Ina (deceased), Raymond (deceased), IVAN (my father), John, Norma and Jean.

I have contacted a couple of people who have some of these names listed on their tree but they have not responded and I can’t be sure if they will.

Thanks for your time.
Sandra

Apologies for the delay in responding – intermittent problems with my server.

Thank you so much for taking time out to give me information on this family. It really has helped a lot and I can’t express just how much it is appreciated! My brother and sister are also very grateful to you.

I also think I have paperwork which indicate that John Thomas is also John Joseph so I have to look into that too.

Is someone able to help in relation to another question?

I have paperwork that is a little contradictory regarding my Dad’s younger brother John. It appears on what little paperwork I have that he is older or of a similar age. I’m not sure that this is so as he only has 2 older siblings listed on his birth certificate. I have a hunch that my dad may be one of a twin. Is there any way I could find out the date that John was born?

Thanks again,
Sandra

Unfortunately the online indexes of Birthss do not cover the date range required for that search.

If John was not listed on your Dad's birth certificate then I would assume that he was younger..

Is this John's death notice?
RENWOOD Barry John Death notice 31DEC2004 Death Herald Sun (Melbourne) 03JAN2005

If it is then maybe it will have some info. You can see if you can get a copy through local library or request a lookup through the Ryerson Index.

Were they baptised ....that's another option to follow up.

Make use of the free trial on ancestry.com.au to make contact withe the person who has your family in their tree.

I would also get the WW2 record of Albert Renwood, you never know what info that would have. You can purchase this online through the National Archives of Australia website.

I do know that John was born in the first half of the 1930’s. He is living in Queensland, as is his sisters Norma and Jean.

The ‘Renwood’ family tree has been marked private on Ancestry so cannot be accessed without permission. I’m not having much luck with them though as no one has responded to my emails on here so I can’t imagine they will allow me that access there, unfortunately I will need to find another avenue in my search for answers.

I do see other trees that may be of some help so perhaps I should join there too. Family searching is fairly new to me.

Thank you for your help.
