Have you looked at FreeBMD?

JaneyCanuck

1911

http://www.1911census.co.uk/search/tnaform.aspx

POPPLEWELL MABEL 1892 19 Thorne Yorkshire West Riding

POPPLEWELL MARY BLANCHE 1888 23 Thorne Yorkshire West Riding

(not living together)

Sarah seems to be married by then as she doesn't answer to a search by her name.

That gives some time periods and places for looking.

Sarah's marriage registered o/n/d 1904 in Gainsboro ref 7a 1573.

Mabel's marriage registered j/a/s Gainsboro ref 7a 2147.

Do you want to give a few of the names? And dates and places? Your granddad, for instance? It might be possible to help sort them out.

I / we would only find the same things at FreeBMD you can find. There are so many Sarah marriages 1901-1911, for instance, that I'd have no way of guessing which is who.

You have their births -- did they have middle names? Giving all the info you have to start with is the best way to start.

If we have your granddad's name and DOB, it should be relatively simple to find his parents' marriage. Have you tried that? Search for a marriage of Popplewell + your granddad's surname.

Jeannette, other than the fact that the marriages are both registered in the same place, is there a basis for picking those two?

(The Mabel marriage is 1919, btw.)

1901 census for this family was Gainsboro district so thought most likely registration district for marriages would also be Gainsboro and the names were the same. Sarah was registered as Sarah Ann and Mabel was just Mabel (sorry missed off year 1919 for Mabel).

... and every time, someone has had to drag the names and details out. And I'm not sure that is a complete list.

Has no one pointed out yet, Katie, that multiple posts about the same thing are against the rules and are simply very inconsiderate of other people?

There is no marriage in England/Wales ever for surname BUI before or shortly after 1917. But maybe it seemed like a good idea for a few more people to go on a wild goose chase.

Yesterday you were advised to order Piet Buil's birth certificate to get his mother's name.

Katie

Katie Report 24 Aug 2009 17:33

im unemployed i cant get a certificate

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 24 Aug 2009 17:48

I knew that wasn't all.

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.asp?wci=thread&tk=1159371

I like that one. ;)

The fact that you aren't willing to pay for a certificate does not mean that you get to post thread after thread asking other people to waste their time looking for something that isn't there, over and over and over.

if i had money then i would pay for it but do you even know how hard it is to find a job

your not even helping at this point all your doing is going on and on and on instead of helping

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 24 Aug 2009 18:05

Katie, having money has nothing to do with it.

Other people's time is theirs, and is valuable to them.

You are wasting it.
