Thomas Poad and Sarah (nee Runnalls) immigrated to New Zealand from Callington Cornwall, in the ship the Duke Of Roxburgh leaving Plymouth Oct 5th 1839 arriving in Port Nicholson (Wellington NZ) Feb 7th 1840 bringing their two small daughters Mary Ann 3 yrs and Philippa Jane 7 months. Children born in NZ were John 1841 William Henry 1843 Isabella 1848 Thomas 1850 and Joseph 1853 (my grandfather) who married first Helen Harvey then Emma Farley (my grandmother) |
