I found the recipe in a vegetarian cook book that was brought into the office where I worked ........ copied it out, didn't I???

Just in case I might need it ....... one of our nieces had become vegetarian, after she'd lived in Namibia for a time, and literally had a cow killed in her honour in a small village.

No hiccups / hiccoughs (whichever) tonight Jeanie.
Just the one as a settler, as they say.

Never heard of Shepherdess pie Sylvia.
Have used Quorn quite often (so much easier ... but a lot more expensive) but I prefer the real thing.

Dab hand at cooking since we got the new induction hob... all computerised, no knobs ...brilliant !

we made Shepherdess Pie some years ago for a vegetarian visitor, it only has veggies in it, no protein substitute at all

.... she had it for her main dish, the rest of us had it as our veggies

I still do meals from my vegetarian cookbook now and again - for a change. Meatless shepherd's pie is absolutely delicious. Never use 'proper' mince - use Quorn substitute instead. Makes great spag bol.

Daughter with the baby is a veggie ... ever since she went to college and "saw the light" !
We thought it was just a fad until on one of her visits home she broke down and sobbed because we were pulling the heads off king prawns.

OK - I'll let you off Michael:-) Do not miss alcohol at all. I'm afraid my vice is the ciggie. Gave up for seven months but a rather trying time over the last couple of years and I've relapsed. Really disappointed in myself. Make great efforts not to let the grandchildren seeing me have a crafty one though.

Morning Sylvia. Good on your daughter. My son was a veggie for some years - always amazed him at the number of people who tried to persuade him to revert to 'normal'. Do not think it was that which caused him to go back to flesh eating. It was a roast turkey at Xmas - he just couldn't resist. He had only given up meat for the sake of the animals - not because he didn't like it.

our daughter was most civilized ... she too had stopped drinking, but she would still make drinks for her husband and mine
