trying to find george william penny
died hendon n london1946
married rose meller 1909
had a lot of children

then the mystery
was he born george william penny
or was he fostered /adopted by a tilling /telling family
he changed his name at sometime

no records found before 1909

Do you know an approximate year of birth, and place of birth?

If not, do you know the place of marriage?

Presumably he married as George Penny?

if you have some more info, I'll see what I can find on ancestry.com for you.

when he was adopted he would have been reregistered with his new name.... have you any idea when the adoption took place?

Hi Wayne... is this another race?! I'm being diverted back to the homepage every post again today!

I understood that adoption law only came in in 1926/7, and therefore this adoption may be the same as one I was looking into last week for a friend, whereby her grandfather was "adopted son" on his census return, but maintained the surname his mother registered him with... still anything COULD happen I'm sure!

i think he was born in 1873/4
i do not know where he was born
he married in st georges hanover square
