This is Jane Santon in 1871
Jane Santon
Age: 26
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1845
Relation: Wife
Spouse's Name: Edward
Gender: Female
Where born: Bedale, Yorkshire, England

Civil Parish: Aiskew
County/Island: Yorkshire
Country: England

Street address:

Occupation:

Registration district: Bedale
Sub-registration district: Bedale
ED, institution, or vessel: 11
Neighbors: View others on page
Household schedule number: 24
Household Members:
Name Age
Edward Santon 29 born Bridlington Quay, Yorkshire,
Edward Chambers Santon 4
Eliza Santon 1
Jane Santon 26
Thomas Santon 6

Edward and Eliza are still there in the 1881 census quoted above. All of the Santon children are down as being sons and daughters of Thomas Peel

I assumed that Jane had remarried because I found this marriage, but the only other name on the page is a William Thompson, not Peel.

Jane Santon
Year of Registration: 1876
Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
District: Bedale
County: Yorkshire - North Riding
Volume: 9d
Page: 847

I then looked for a Jane Thompson in 1881 with all of Jane Santons details and a husband William. I couldn't find one, so maybe Jane did marry Thomas peel and the records just haven't been transcribed yet

Having said that, I have looked at the complete marriage index for that quarter, but there was no matching Thomas Peel marriage in Bedale, so I don't know what is going on

to Elizabeth Jane Brown

I will need far more information to find them.

Where where they born and when? Have you found them on the 1901 census. If so where did they live?
Where did they get married. Anything you know at all.
Have you bought the marriage certificate? If so what were the fathers names and occupations etc

Jane is the head of the house and is a widow
Thomas Peel is down as being unmarried and single, he is a visitor.
So it looks like he wasn't married to her after all

I checked the image for 1881 and she is definitely down as Jane Peel, wife of Thomas. Maybe they were just living together and pretending to be married.in 1881

Snape does not have a church of its own, the church is St Michaels at Well.
This is the baptism for only Thomas Peel who appears on the earlier censuses in the area

THOMAS PEEL Pedigree

Birth:
Christening:

Parents:
Father: THOMAS PEEL Family
Mother: JANE

He appears on the 1841, 51 and 61 censuses.

I can't see him in 1901, he may have died in 1896, although the name and age is different so it may not be him

I have looked for Elizabeth in the earlier censuses but can't see her. This is the 1901census

Elizabeth A Brown
Age: 22
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1879
Relation: Wife
Spouse's Name: Francis
Gender: Female
Where born: Willington, Durham, England

Civil Parish: Stockley
Ecclesiastical parish: Willington St Stephen
County/Island: Durham
Country: England

Registration district: Durham
Sub-registration district: St Oswald
ED, institution, or vessel: 40
Neighbors: View others on page
Household schedule number: 137
Household Members:
Name Age
Elizabeth A Brown 22
Frances M Brown 5 Mo
Francis Brown 22

The image does say Elizabeth A, but the marriage reference said Elizabeth Jane.

There are so many Elizabeth Browns on those earlier censuses, but not one with a Willington birth.

Until you buy her marriage certificate, you will never be able to go back any further.
This only costs £7, it will give her fathers name which is what you need.

You can order it on line from
www.gro.gov.uk. If you haven't ordered a cert before, you will need to fill in your details. When you get to the page for ordering the cert, make sure you say tick the box which asks if you have the GRO reference number. You don't need to fill all of the form in, just the name, year, district volume and page numbers.

Or as it was in Durham, you can order the certificate from there. This is the exact page for the one you want

I am not sure if it cut the web address off before. Just copy and paste it into your adress bar and it will take you to the exact page for ordering the marriage certificate from Durham.

I can't do anything else until you know who her parents were

You shouldn't be asking for this sort of look up because you can do them for yourself free on
www.freebmd.org.uk

It is only later bmd's which need a subscription to a site such as ancestry

I wanted to addx some more to the answer above, but the usual edit button is missing.
The first birth is in 1922, in Easington which is the district for Shotton, but there were several others for Thomas Browns in Easington in 1921.
I then looked for a marriage around the correct time. I looked for a Mabel Kirtley, but there wasn't one.
So I swapped to a Thomas Brown marriage, there were lots of them in Easington around that time. The only one with a possible wife called Mabel was the one I have posted. The problem is that she is not called Kirtley.
Of course Robert could have been the last in a long line of children, so Thomas and Mabel could have married much earlier than this. You may have more information, so could find them on the free bmd website
