Given his son's name it certainly looks like the correct marriage.

For ref.

Surname First name(s) District Vol Page

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Marriages Jun 1856 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HINCHLIFFE Lydia Huddersfield 9a 279
PARKSON Abraham Huddersfield 9a 279
Quarmby James Huddersfield 9a 279
SCHOFIELD Abigail Huddersfield 9a 279

Perhaps there is no father's name on his marriage certificate because he never knew his father?

Do you have this birth certificate? (You don't mention Schofield's mother) which would confirm you had the right marriage for Abraham.

Jean- just an outside chance but Lancashire have a good website(lan-opc) for marriages etc. On the 1851 census Caroline/Caraline Parkinson is entered as widow and the possible eldest child is 28 born in Lancashire. You could try entering Parkinson around 1821 and see if it shows any marriages with a Caroline. Know its an outside chance but if that doesn't show anything try entering the daughter entered as Margret( or Margaret) and see if that show her parents-Jle

Some of what you have posted is puzzling, to say the least.

Do you mean that Hannah was Agar at birth, then married Parkinson, before marrying Lodge? The info does need to be clear for us to be able to help you..............and we do want to help!

Flick

Flick Report 6 Jan 2011 16:47

According to the facts posted earlier it was Annie Lodge who married Schofield Parkinson.............

Flick

Flick Report 6 Jan 2011 16:54

What was James Lodge's occupation?

Flick

Flick Report 6 Jan 2011 16:58

If Abraham's father's name wasn't on his marriage cert..........then he obviously didn't know him.

Perhaps Caroline wasn't actually a widow? Maybe she never actually married?

I'm guessing that the grandson, John, on 1851, was Margaret's child?

i have a birth certificate for ann elizabeth agar lodge (my g g grandma ) born in 1862 it states her parents were james lodge (an outdoor labourer) and hannah lodge formely agar both of brown hills, kirkheaton ,huddersfield so wether that was hannahs birthname or wether she had been married before i don't know but i can't find a marriage between them or any thing on a census annie went on to marry schofield parkinson in 1880 in huddersfield schofield was the son af abraham parkinson who was married to abigail (schofield) i have seen on the 1851 census the parkinson family with caroline as head i would have thought that his father was dead as he was not named on abraham and abigails marriage certificate i think john must have been margarets son there was also an older brother and a younger brother alfred but i can't find anyone on the1841 census thanks for your reply i would be very grateful if someone could help

Oh Jean !

Please use sentences and paragraphs.

A string of words with no separation is far too confusing.

Flick

Flick Report 6 Jan 2011 22:10

Yet again, spacing it out for ease of understanding........and capital initial letters for the names would also be a good idea..............

i have a birth certificate for ann elizabeth agar lodge (my g g grandma ) born in 1862 it states her parents were james lodge (an outdoor labourer) and hannah lodge formely agar both of brown hills, kirkheaton ,huddersfield

so wether that was hannahs birthname or wether she had been married before i don't know but i can't find a marriage between them or any thing on a census

annie went on to marry schofield parkinson in 1880 in huddersfield schofield was the son af abraham parkinson who was married to abigail (schofield)

i have seen on the 1851 census the parkinson family with caroline as head i would have thought that his father was dead as he was not named on abraham and abigails marriage certificate

i think john must have been margarets son there was also an older brother and a younger brother alfred but i can't find anyone on the1841 census

thanks for your reply i would be very grateful if someone could help

Please don't keep repeating yourself...........everyone can see what info have been found for you.

If it had been possible to find any of the Parkinsons on 1841, the info would have been posted on here for you.

There is no record of them.

It be that they missed the census...........or that the particular record is not available for some reason.

Abraham's failure to name his father when he married shows that he didn't know who his father was............whether he was dead or alive makes no difference.

The fact that no-one can find a marriage for Hannah to James would suggest that there wasn't one.

If Hannah had been married more than once, the fact SHOULD have been recorded on her child's birth cert

If you respond, please follow the example here, and use some punctuation and spacing.
