Trying to find the parents/siblings of James Overfield born c1806 Melbourn, York. He married Sarah Wass in 1825 at Garton on the Wolds, Yorkshire and lived for most of his life in Wetwang, Yorkshire.

I have recently been given information that James may have been Christened in Suton-upon-Derwent in 1803 under the surname of OLDFIELD. Is anyone able to view the original entry please, to see if it gives the place of birth and accupation of Father?

Below is the information I have which I hope to be my Great Great Grandfather, but haven't been able to get to the Borthwick to see if it gives the Father's Occupation and address . I know from censuses that James was born in Melbourne, Nr York. His age in the censuses would make his birth 1800.
If this is in fact the James I am looking for I have the family of Thomas Overfield and Sarah Norton going back quite a few generations.

It is kind of you to take the trouble.

Have had a look on the map and as your information says in 1803Thomas's residence was Sutton on Derwent that isn't far from Melbourne, so this could possibly be my G.G.Grandfather.

If Thomas was born in 1783 he couldn't have married Elizabeth Batman in 1780 though. It looks like a different Thomas.

Information I have is that Thomas b 1783 and Sarah Norton b1780 Deighton - were married in 1802 at Skirpenbeck. Somewhere along the way the name of this family has changed from Oldfield to Overfield. which just adds to the confusion.
