im trying to find some info about my grandmas mom my nan is olive ellis born 26/08/1928 and married donald davenport in november 1949 and i think her moms maiden name was spellman they were from barton i think...unfortunatly my grandad dosnt no much about my grandmas side so i dont even no if she had any siblings

If you buy the birth certificate it will give you her parent's names and then you can look for them in the 1911 census.

Olive's birth is the only Ellis/Spellman birth in the Barton I. registration district although there are others in other parts of Lancashire.

You must get her marriage cert.

Everything else is pure guesswork especially as you have no idea if that birth, mmn Spellman, is correct

right found a bit more info dunno if it will help tho apparantly grandmas dad got gassed in world war 1 didnt die but it was b4 he moved to eccles and became a bus driver

Denise, don't discard things because of a different spelling. You will learn with this family history stuff names get changed/mis spelt. Ages are made up etc... always best to keep an open mind

This should give you Olive's father's name which you can use as a reference checking point when ordering her birth certificate.

Denise seems reluctant to buy the certs as she has been given the marriage details before
