Does anyone know if it is possible to bring up a particular address in the 1881 census. 61 Oakley Street in Lambeth. |

Ladykira - Her name was Alexandra Sophia Bush and she had a daughter Alice Maude in January 1882 aged 17. The child died in April 1882 and the informant was E Green of 61 Oakley Street, Lambeth. |

Just for info, the 1881 census is searchable free of charge at Ancestry, by address as well. |

On Ancestry, to enter the piece/folio/page, do an old style search with advanced options. The Old/New switch is at top right of search page. |

I think the point was there was not necessarily going to be a hit on that street. In fact there was not one. |

Hawthorn, to search by street in the 1881 at Ancestry, you have to use the specific search form for the 1881 (the link I gave) -- it's the only one that includes a box for entering the address (the general census search form doesn't include that box). You can just enter the street name w/o a number, for example. |

LK - I wasn't suggesting entering a person's name on Ancestry, and in fact I didn't do so. I just wanted to find anyone living on Oakley, then look them up on familysearch and then cruise thru the census. |

Thanks everyone - I really appreciate your suggestions & help. I thought I used to able to search in that way, the "old" way. |
