My husband's name is Melvyn Arthur Yoxall and he is the only son of Lewis Edgar Yoxall ('Edgar') born 1912 who lived in Blackley, Manchester. Edgar's death certificate shows his cousin Marjorie Newton of Southport as being the notifying party; however, when both Melvyn's parents passed away, Melvyn thought he was the only remaining member of his family. Now that Marjorie has come to light there are obviously other members of the Newton family out there.

Edgar's parents were Charles Lewis Yoxall and Margaret Faulkner and they only had two children - Lewis Edgar Yoxall as above, and Arthur Yoxall born on 1916. Charles' parents were George Henry Yoxall and Stewards Edgar (born Scotland) who were married to in 1879, and Charles was their only son; however, in the 1891 census a half-brother Alexander born 1896 appears.

Edgar's brother Arthur was killed during WWII and was single so we really don't know where the Newton side of the family comes from. It could be that brothers or sisters of Charles Yoxall or Margaret Faulkner married into the Newton family, but we are only really clutching at straws.

Anyway, Melvyn is very keen to trace Marjorie Newton and any other members of her family, so any assistance you can give us would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Janet
