NEWCOMB; anyone tracing this family originating in the farming villages near Grantham, Lincolnshire? I have traced back to 1770's.

Hello Jane
My great grandfather George Newcomb(e) was born in Elston, Nr Newark 1846. He married Mary Naylor in 1867. I have been unable to find out who his parents were and wonder if you have any information?

He was living with his Grandfather Jonathan Newcombe in Elston on the 1851 census.
I think Johnathans parents were Thomas Newcomb and Sarah Foster He was born in Haston Notts.
Jonathan married Elizabeth Harvey 22.01.1816 in Sceveton. Their children were Sarah, William John, Robert, Ann and Elizabeth. None of their children were named George. I suppose his parents may have died.

Jonathan and his sons were agricultural labourers. I wonder if you have any information about George Newcomb (1846) that you would share?

Regards
Chris Gadsby
