Looking for Henry Murray

In 1889 Henry joined 20th Foot Reg't aged 14 probably 'cos he had no family... I was told that my grandfather would be impossible to trace as he had no parents! Oh really!! Henry was born at the turn of 1874-75, possibly in Lewisham according to 20th/Lancashire Fuseliers records. Cannot find a birth reference or 1881 census record to match, nor 1891/1901 census entry as he was serving overseas at that time. Have good profile since Army discharge in 1901 'till death in 1951 but nothing before.
Have you come across him?

Try a search for North Surrey District School, Croydon. This school appears to have been part of a Workhouse which took children from Lewisham amongst other places.
