Find Ancestors

Hi,still trying to find info on my G.G.Grandfather Humprey,the only info I have is he's 'deceased' on his son's marriage certificate (dated 1890) & he was a plasterer.His son was born Chertsey but they seem to be from the Leamington Spa area.Anything at all would be much appreciated(his Wifes name would be fantastic)Thanks.

His son was Robert Ernest D.O.B 1859 married to Eliza Raven in Leamington.

If you know the son's date of birth, his birth certificate would give you his mother's name

I was kind of under the impression that a birth certificate won't be released unless you know the names of both parents?If you can confirm otherwise you will have made me incredibly happy 'cause this is driving me up the wall !!!! Thanks.

all you need is the GRO reference number with the year and quarter. I admit I have not found it yet - I am not on broadband & my PC is working very slowly today. I'll keep looking.

I wonder if the below was Humphrey's father in 1871
Whilst there is no son Humphrey with them the couple appear to have given birth to a son with a middle name Humphrey based on the IGI with thier children listed below. Probably a red herring!

We have 5/6 possibles on most census's but we can't be definite 'cause his wife's unknown & it appears his son was sent to North Surrey District School in 1871-all we know was he didn't make the Wedding!Thanks.

I think the possible father of Humphrey is a red herring as George/Humphrey does not appear with his parents in any census

I have also looked for Robert Moore's without the middle name for the approximate year of birth and can't find a good match.

I wonder whether it is worth looking at the below site on the North Surrey District School. They list the London Metropolitan Archives as having registers of children at the school. I wonder whether Humphrey was really his parent or Robert invented him for his marraige as he seems to have had no family during his life

perhaps some kind person would look up the baptism records for chertsey for you to see if there is any record there
the only robert ernest I could find had the surname lewis. It is also possible that his birth was not registered as it was not compulsory until the 1870's, but he was likely baptised
