I am looking for information about my great, great, great granmother, aunts & uncles. Their surname may be recorded as Kemp, Keemp or Kimp. I would like any information about the baptism/birth of Ann Kemp in 1828 in Petton, Nr Bampton, Devon. Her mother was my great, great, great grandmother, Anne Kemp born c1814. She was 14 when she had her first child - father unknown. Her second child, my gt. gt. grandmother, Diana Kemp was born in 1835, and baptised on 13 December 1835 at Chipstable Parish Church, Somerset Anne [mother] died in 1840, aged 26 years, and Diana [& presumably her older sister Ann] went to live with their maternal grandparents, James & Thomazin Kemp, who lived in Chipstable, for some of the time. He was born c 1789 at Bampton, Devon, and she was born c 1788 in Chipstable, Somerset. They had 10 kids in all, quite a few of them died as kids/young adults. Anne - c 1814 born Chipstable William c 1816 - he died in 1837 - born Chipstable Mary c 1818 - she died in 1827 - born Chipstable George [Kimp], c 1820 - he died in 1842 - Chipstable John [Kimp] - 1822 - Chipstable Robert - 1827 - ??? Jeremiah [Kimp] - c 1822 - Chipstable Mary c 1831 - Chipstable Elizabeth [Kimp], c 1833 - Chipstable Enos [Kemp] c 1836 - Chipstable Jeremiah - 1836 - Chipstable The names Kemp / Kimp are shown on the online parish records I've been able to access. The 1851/61 censuses show their surname as being spelt Keemp. Any help or information about this family would be very helpful, particularly parish information about James Kemp/Ann Kemp from the Devon records. Thomazin was born in Chipstable but her marriage to James does not appear in the records that I can access. Thanks in advance |
