His wife was Alice Beatrice, but she was living with someone else in 1911. Half the kids are Merediths and some are Martins. Driving me crazy.

Alice is using the name Martin, husband George Martin. She was born Alice Beatrice Harvey in 1880 in St Lukes, London. She married Walter Meredith in 1900 in Shorditch. My grandmother Grace has also been given the name Martin, but i know she was a Meredith, only her father is stated as george Meredith on her birth cert.

Vera. Walter was in Dartmoor Prison in 1901. Not sure if Alice married a George Martin. From what i've found and heard so far is that Walter & George were the same guy. It was thought they changed there surname in about 1920, but going off the 1911 census it seems their name change long before that.

Just can't work out when name changed or when George showed up.

2. WALTER MEREDITH, 21, defendant name in trial of WALTER MEREDITH, Theft > simple larceny, 23rd July 1900.

493. WALTER MEREDITH (21) PLEADED GUILTY to stealing and receiving 52 1/2 gross of metal parcel clips, the property of Ernest Wareham, having been convicted at this Court in February, 1899. Five other convictions were proved against him. He was stated to be a desperate van robber.
