My great great grandfather, Thomas McVety, b. 1887 in Manchester, died in an accident at the Clayton Aniline factory in Manchester in around 1939, i was wondering if anyone knew anything about him or about the accident, because i can't find anything myself. thanks x

You have the wrong date!

Article from the Manchester Guardian Aug 25th, 1928.

Whilst repairing a leak in a gas pipe at the works of Clayton Aniline Company Limited
Manchester, yesterday, Thomas McVety aged 42 of Manchester Road, Droylsden was
overcome by fumes and was later admitted to Ancoats Hospital.

This looks like his death but, unless he was unfortunate enough to experience a 2nd accident in the same place, he did not die immediately after the accident.

Thank you for all the replies :) PollyPoppet, thanks for the info, but his parents are john and esther, there is another thomas mcvety born a similar time to him whose dad is called richard, i got them confused to begin with!
thats definately him in the 1928 accident, and perhaps he was unfortunate enough for it to happen to him again, although the first accident could have caused a health problem that caused his death in '39? My grandad was told by his grandma and uncle, so he might have some details mixed up, thank you all so much xx

and Maddie, that's his wife's name, and the right place, bu i've got his marriage to her as on august 15th 1916 in droylsden xx
