Mary Ellen Farrell born 1891 in Manchester. Gave birth to a daughter Annie in July 1919, father on birth cert is Harry McLean (deceased). She (Mary Ellen), lived in the Broughton area of Salford at the time.
Can't find Mary Ellen Farrell's marriage to Harry McLean, (she remarried in 1925 and is a widow on the marriage cert), or any details of Harry's death.
I believe he may have died in an accident in a mill, obviously between September 1918 and July 1919 but can't find a death record.
There may also be a connection to Ireland, possibly they may have married in Ireland and then she came back to Salford to give birth after his death? Would really appreciate any help, it's a real mystery.
Many thanks.

Georgina - you already have a thread on Mary Ellen Farrell, which you started just 10 minutes before this one.

Hi Ginny,
I've got the birth cert for Annie, Salford 1919 8d 107, mother Mary Ellen McLean formerly Farrell.
I'm finding a lot of people with the same names, even Farrells who married McLeans!

Georgina

Georgina Report 10 Nov 2010 20:24

I know, but it's for a different query. I didn't want to ask for too many answers on one posting as I thought it would get confusing.

Hello Georgina, we're used to chaos and confusion on here!
The reason for the one posting per family rule is that most often the information for one query helps with another about the same family - it's often useful for cross referencing.

The rule is one post per family.
Saves researchers duplicating stuff already found.

If that birth entry for Annie Farrell is correct, then she was registered in her mother's maiden name.
Otherwise she would have been registered as Annie McLean.

If this is the marriage you mentioned where the bride was a widow...then her MARRIED name would be Farrell not her maiden name.

She was registered as Annie McLean, her father was Harry McLean.
Although I have another posting, this is for an earlier child whose father was Harry Farrell.
That's why I've put two different postings on.
I have a query on a McLean and a Farrell.

Hi Mike,
Born Farrell, married McLean, widowed and remarried in 1925.
No connection to McLaren.

So the birth that Ginny found is not her then ?

OK, so is this her birth ?

It would have helped if you had posted this info at the beginning.

Georgina

Georgina Report 10 Nov 2010 20:46

Yes Mike it is.
Would like to find details of her parents marriage and her father's death.

Georgina

Georgina Report 10 Nov 2010 20:56

Yes that is the correct birth as I already stated towards the beginning of the post.
I'm not asking for any info on the re-marriage, I already have that.
I don't see how that would have helped you.
All the relevant and correct info has already been posted.

Georgina - it would have helped as it would have saved people wasting time looking things up! The problem is on boards like this is that the helpers don't know what the person asking already knows, unless they say.

Georgina

Georgina Report 10 Nov 2010 21:05

I'm sorry, I'm not being awkward, but I just don't see how a later marriage fits in with the query I asked about.
I gave her maiden name, date of birth and an approximate date the marriage could have taken place.

Sorry Georgina, at first reading it sounded like mother's name was Farrell at the time daughter was born.
Hence the search to establish which name she re-married under.
Cross-purposes I guess.
It all sounds different to someone else who has no knowledge of the exact details.

Looks like your assumption of a marriage outside Eng/Wales is more than likely.

Georgina

Georgina Report 10 Nov 2010 21:36

Yes, I think so too Mike.
I have trouble keeping track of them all as well!

Just to clarify, Georgina, yes, you did post all the relevant information, but there are so many people asking for help on these boards who have made mistakes in their research, so us "helpers" like to make sure we have the full picture before going on to assist.

I'll go and have another hunt for the missing fella.
