Find Ancestors

Trying to find any information on George Mcarthur (c1879) and Elizabeth Mcarthur nee Mckinnie (c1879). They lived in Plean would like to know about their parents and siblings and where they were born. Grateful for any information.
I found their names on my grandfathers marriage certificate Its not got any dates for them. My grandfather john was born 24 july 1907 he had a twin brother george brothers david james danny tommy they lived in plean near stirling he was a coal miner and his father also was when he got a bit older he lived at 12 loanfoot gardens plean.

You must have some more info !!!


When did they live in Plean?

I have found only one record on ScotlandsPeople which is for 1907.....

the couple are aged 23 and 22 so unless you are way out with estimated years of birth this probably isn't them.

Scottish birth certs do usually give the date of the parents marriage although not always correct

What info have you got on their ages? Occupation for George- coal miner?


1901 has a George b1879 with occupation of ironstone miner

This may be the George that was married in Airdrie. But as has been said previously you need to go to http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.co.uk and get John's birth certificate to find the date and place of his parents' marriage. (Assuming you don't already have his birth certificate or you would already know the marriage details) Credits are £6 for 30 - 1 credit to view search results and 5 to view certificate. It could be that the records will show that john mcarthur was born in either old plean or denny not sure how the districts were named in those days

I found John McArthur and brother George birth certs on Scotland'sPeople

They were born at Spring Vale Cottage by Denny at 7am and 9am respectively
Parents married 07/06/1907 at Longriggend......so just in time for the births

Marriage mentioned earlier is the correct one

June 7th 1907 at St Mary's Longriggend by Airdrie according to the forms of the Roman Catholic Church

I think you are correct, I had the wrong McArthur census but the correct McKinney. I think that the John Boyle boarding with them is possibly Margaret (Mary Ann)'s brother or at least a relative.
