Find Ancestors

Looking for Alice Mason (maybe Eliza Alice ) c1882, from Skelmersdale/Ormskirk area, married George Quinn 1915 Lancashire.
She had a brother James or William, I think, and either sisters or close cousins Jane/Jenny/Ginny and Sally/Sarah.
I can't find out exactly which Mason family they are from; I think their father was Robert c1845.

I was always told Alice died 6wks after I was born, so that would be early 1956, but on a photo of the gravestone, it looks like died 1960. Which is correct?

We haven't established which is the correct Alice yet - you didn't tell us any details from the marriage cert.

Alice Mason definitely married George Quinn, they moved to Totternhoe, Beds, when my Dad, John Noel and twin Doreen were nine (b1920) and stayed with his sister, Frances (Fanny Quinn) and husband William Turner, in Totternhoe. at The Cross Keys

I am not disputing the fact that 'your' Alice married George Quinn, I just thought you were trying to establish her correct family, with father Robert.

There are a few possibles so the details from that wedding cert would give us more to go on.

Do you have the cert, if not, how have you established that her father was Robert c 1845?

Do you know what Robert's occupation was, or any other details about him please?

my auntie Doreen (Quinn) Dixon is Alice's daughter and only living relative I know - she is 90, but as they moved away from Lancs 80 years ago, she doesn't have contact with any living relatives and her memory is sketchy, so working on info she has told me and anything I can remember my granddad telling me some 40 years ago!.

Yes, it is difficult when you have no other relatives to ask and I am not surprised that your Auntie Doreen's memory is a bit 'sketchy' - she has reached a good age !

I think we have found the correct death details from what you have told us - what else did it say on the gravestone and where was it? - Do you think it is the correct one?

The only was to be sure you are following the correct Alice backwards would be to get hold of that marriage cert to find further details on her father.

I have a feeling that the one which Vera originally posted will prove to be the one, in which case, I believe her mother's maiden name was probably Cropper.

M y gran and grampy lived in Totternhoe, Beds, after they moved from Lancs. They lived in The Ride and Grampy moved to Park Avenue some years after gran died.
Grans sister/cousin - Sal/Sarah apparently married a sailor, and when gran lived in Liverpool area she was a private cleaner.
