I've hit a hard brick wall with my GGG Grandfather John James Macknelly b c1831 baptised 26.4.1831 (Stepney, London). Married 03.05.1852, St Thomas' Stepney to Ann Amelia Glasser. Does not appear on any census records at all. However, on the 1861 census Ann does but her status as wife is crossed through and replaced with head. On his sons marriage certificate twelve years later in 1873 (also John James), my GGG grandfather is entered as the grooms father and his occupation at that time was a Master Mariner. I've googled him to no avail and I am yet to find a death record for him? Any suggestions would be welcome!

With best wishes
