Find Ancestors

Hi
I am trying to find out if Elizabeth Ludlam was the daughter of William or John Ludlam. On the census William is the grandfather but on the mormon site he is the father! I have a birth certificate for an Elizabeth Ludlam born 1843 whose father is John but not sure if it's the right one! Or if there is another Elizabeth Ludlam born in South Wingfield around that time! Think my eyes have gone with keep looking and getting nowhere. Any help appreciated

According to census details, there is one born 1840 and one born 1843.

Did she marry?

The record on IGI is a submitted one so cannot be trusted.

Looks like your Elizabeth could be the daughter of John and Ann nee Granger.
What was John's occupation and address on birth certificate that you have?
If so she had 6 siblings at least.

If this is her marriage, she must be the one born in 1840.

The one I'm after is the one born in 1840 I think - is there a reference for that one Christine? Am pretty sure it's the one that married William Bollington - he ended up in prison (not sure what for, can't find that out!) The problem I have is the John Ludlams were both labourers. My gut instinct is the 1840 one but I can't send for birth certificate as I can't find the actual birth record. Many thanks for your help so far.

Do you have the marriage cert?

There is no John Ludlam in the houdehold in 1841 with Elizabeth.

Do you know for certain who your Elizabeth married as her fathers name would be on the marriage certificate/parish records.

Elizabeth 1 doesn't say wether she is daughter or not.
But these are the ones on tree which says elizabeth married Henry William Shaw in 1869 which there is a record of.

The Elizabeth Burgin Ludlam 1844 is still at home on 1861 census so that rules her out.

The one with John (Coal Miner )and Ann nee Granger in 1851 census I cannot find in 1861 or her parents,but if she married 1859 to Mr Bollington she would have been 16 only.Although that isn't a problem.

Don't know anything for certain but I have birth cert for the one born in 1843 (John Ludlam and Ann Grainger) and I'm pretty sure it's not this one I want.

The only thing I know for certain is that she was related to William Ludlam (1791). I am working on the assumption that she was the granddaughter as stated in 1851 census and just trying to find who her parents were.

The Elizabeth Ludlam who married Henry william Sahaw had a son Phineas Shaw 1880.
This is a unusual name don't you think and William ludlam and Sophia nee brassington also had a son Phineas born @ 1835.
I wonder if there is a connection there!!

I see you have a closed tree on Ancestry with Salethiel on ,is this the brother of Elizabeth?

He had two sons named John after his father maybe!

Maybe there parents died young,but then again Elizabeth was on 1841 census and Salethial born 1843.

Salethiel male married Mary Brown 1867.

John Ludlane (Ludlam) married Elizabeth Storer J/A/S 1838 in Chesterfield. V19 page 304

Elizabeth Storer parents John 1778 and Ann Alsopp 1782.

I am hoping that Elizabeth was indeed Salathiel's sister, that would make it so much easier than having to track her down with other parents! John did die young with Elizabeth dying just before him. Think I might have to get the death certificates for both of them. Am still trying to find the death of Salathiel - he seems to just disappear!
