I am looking for any other descendants of the Levesque family who came to England from Rouen, Normandy circa 1770. They settled in Bethnal Green where they worked as broad silk weavers and later went into bookbinding and upholstery. My great Grandmother was Mary Ann Levesque, born at 9 Robert Street, Bethnal Green circa 1840. Her parents were Isaac Daniel Levesque and Susannah Elisabeth Lamy. I would love to hear from anybody who thinks they may have a connection.

Hi Deborah

My name is Paula and I may have a Levesque connection with your great grandmother. My maternal grandfather was born in Bow in May 1897. His name was Augustus Delves Gaucheron Levesque (apparently it was originally Gaucheron-Levesque ... double barrelled and then dropped and used as a Christain name at some time) He was the 2nd or 3rd eldest of 13 children. His mother was called Rhoda but unfortunately we don't know the father's first name! His brothers & sisters were called Harry, Cecil (known as Cis), Marie, Rhoda, Elsie, Jim. Edmond & Walter (known as Did) the others either died at birth or early infancy. The family moved from Bow to Beckenham when my grandfather was a boy where my widowed great grandmother married a man called Brown.
According to my mother, my Levesque family ancestors were bookbinders and are known to have founded the loose-leaf system.

Hope this information is of help to you, unfortunately mum really doesn't know any more about her ancestors as nothing was ever written down and there's only her and a couple of elderly cousins left who also don't know a great deal!
If you manage to find somehow that we have a connection/are related, please get in contact and let me know.

Paula
