Background to the Leah name, how do you pronounce

The term Leah is an Old English term for a wood or clearing. This is the foundation of many surnames and place names. (i.e. ending in ley). My family pronounce it as lear (as the jet), however the surname should really be pronounced the same as leigh, lea. |
