ProfilePosted byOptionsPost Date

Would someone be kind enough to look up the Larby family for me in 1911 please?

Alfred Percy Larby born 1879 Steyning West Sussex, married Annie Haiselden born 1876 Ashburnham Battle.

They married in Battle in 1898 and had a son Alfred George born 1898 in Bexhill.

In 1901 they were living at 24 Brunswick Street Walthamstow Essex

Thanks in advance

Gail

Dea Report 15 Jan 2011 13:41

Nor can I Flick !

I wondered if perhaps Alfred Percy had died and Annie remarried?

I have found 2 possible marriages for Annie but cannot connect them and I cannot see a death for Alfred Percy?

Do you have any further info on them please Gail ?

Alfred Percy died in 1947 in Hastings and Annie in 1967 ... so they are both still alive at 1911

Alfred George married Violet Scrivener 1922 in Barnet

Sorry ... I should have said all this in the first post!!!

Thanks for looking for me

You're welcome

Alfred Percy Larby's discharge papers give his occupation as gardener, aged 39 in 1916

the army papers give children as
Frederick Percy dob 28.9.1904 or 24.9.1904 in West Ham
Leonard Ernest dob 24.9.1914 in Barnet
Lilian dob 19.9.1917 in Barnet

army papers also say Alfred Percy Larby and Annie Haiselden married 11 September 1898 in Bexhill

I wonder why he took on his wfe's maiden name then changed it back before joining the Army ??

I am SURE that tempest's find on 1911 is the correct family but the signature on there does not match with the one one the Army Record??

This is VERY strange !!

on the 1911 census, Alfred and Annie Haiselden had 2 children still living at the time of census, another three had died.

all sorts of strange things went on with census, maybe Alfred junior filled it in. Apparently children were given lessons at school on how to fill in the census in case their parents were unable to write.

My own Great Grandfather for some reason decided to use his mother's first husband's surname on the 1911 census, (my Great Grandfather being from her second marriage).
