Hi All I am now back in trying to find relatives in my Lankstead side of my tree. As shown below in the 1891 Census there is shown Ada E Taylor Sister in Law B 1869. Would she be the sister of Matilda Taylor B1860 shown as Henry's wife and Matilda being the mother of my Grandmother Esther B1888. I can remember my Mother Eva Catherine Foster ( Eva was the daughter of Esther ) reffering to Auntie Ada which I presume she ment Ada Taylor. I can find no record of Matilda and Ada being sister's. Can anyone help Regards Carol

Hi Alviegal Thank you for all the information, I had come to a dead end and this will help a great deal. Yes Matilda was a Lankstead she married Henry Lankstead So Matilda and Henry where my Great Grandmother and Grandfather. What are your thoughts on this subject. Henry Lankstead Taylor B1867 Kingston Surrey and Harry Lankstead Taylor B1867 Kingston Surrey. I think they are the same person. I have got Harry's birth certificate and it confirms that he was born Harry Lankstead and his parents were Thomas Taylor and Matilda Irvine Taylor nee Lankstead. What put my mind in doubt were the census's In the 1871 it shows Harry as Henry and his parents Thomas and Matilda but on the 1881 census it shows as Harry L Taylor and says the head of the house is Mary Ann Lankstead who I think was caring for the children whilst their parents were away. as in another 1881 census it shows Thomas Taylor b 1834 in Renfrewshire Scotland and Matilda Irvine Taylor b 1834 as visitors in Catos Hill Esher Surrey. When I have looked for Henry Lankstead Taylor birth there is no trace only Harry Lankstead Taylor.
Do you know who Mary Ann Lanksteads parents were as that seems a mystery as well. Was she born Lankstead or was that her married name. On the 1881 census it says her age as 55 and born in Wateringbury Kent.

I thought that Matilda Irvine Lankstead and Mary Ann Lankstead could be sisters but I cannot find any census with them both on as children in 1841 it shows Matilda but not Mary. In 1841 Mary would have only been 10 years old so I thought she would have still been with her parents.
