Hi

My grandmother was a Lambert who descended from Alexander Methven Lambert, thought to be born Cork 1824 (or Wiltshire 1839, less likely). In Oz, he was associated with a Randall Howe Lambert born 1835 Cork to William Lambert and Ann Carr who married 1832 – they may have been brothers. The Carr family likely originated in Ireland.

Alexander married Jane Matilda Mullin in 1852 at East Melbourne and Randall married Elizabeth Biggs in 1858 and Bessie Young in 1881, both in Victoria.

Both these Lamberts were associated in Oz with George Lambert, the son of Admiral Sir George Robert Lambert who settled on land at Auburn in South Australia. Could all be the one family as they lived in similar places and gave their children similar names. However, I can find no link.

Both Alexander and Randall worked in the Central Goldfields region of Victoria (St Arnaud, Avoca, etc) and Alex’s son Frederick Charles Lambert married Emily Fulling at St Arnaud in 1887. Emily was descended from the Fullings and Dickersons of Auburn, SA – the same small town as George Lambert mentioned above.

Alexander Methven’s descendants settled in Prahran and country Victoria and mine ventured to South Australia and then to the goldfields of WA before settling in Perth (Subiaco, Nedlands).

I wonder if anyone has any knowledge of these Lamberts or how they may be linked? I do have more info which might assist somebody so don’t research the same ground.
