Ruby L Knights born 1909 Camberwell, married Edward Ernest Thomason at Greenwich on 19 Nov 1931. Any information about either Ruby or Edward most welcome as I have hit a brick wall.

Hi girls thanks for all your help. I worded it wrong (shock) I couldn't find why my Grandparents didn't marry until 1963 when my mum was born in 1838. My Granddad had be married previously to Ruby and I don't know how to find if they had children. I've only ever worked backwards not forwards. Please help.

There are no Thomason/Knights births on Ancestry.

Your mum's birth was reregistered in March 1956 under the surname Thomason. It had previously been registered in 1938 under her mother's maiden name.

Mums birth was registered prior to her national insurance number. I can't even find a death entry for Ruby I searched ancestry thought sh remarried in 1938 but it was a different Ruby.

Grandads first marraige wasn't on ancestry until the start of this month. I've searched it for over a year. Their message board isn't as friendly either!!

Found Edward's death, don't know if you have it, not found Rubys ......yet!

It sounds like they couldnt marry till the 1960.s cos grandad was still married to Ruby. His marriage cert to your nan should give his marital status ie Widower .divorced .

Believe it or not the marraige cert for my Nan and Gandad said Bachelor and spinster. That was 1963.
