Hi Liz,
he's with his parents Frederick and Eliza in 1891 and 1901... not with them in 1911 though and I can't see him using a free search.
Checked emigration records and couldn't see anything.

This is the only death I could see that "MAY" fit;
England & Wales, FreeBMD Death Index: 1837-1915 about William Keyte Name: William Keyte Estimated birth year: abt 1889 Year of Registration: 1905 Quarter of Registration: Jan-Feb-Mar Age at Death: 16 District: Orsett County: Essex Volume: 4a Page: 312

Yes I did think that he may have emigrated. But as Dee has said she has checked emigration records and could not see anything.
The closest to age I can see to William Harrison Keyte born in England is a William Keyte ref: Apr / May / jun 1889, Droitwich
The only way that I will know if that is the right death reference is to order the certificate,
What do you think he was doing in Orsett, Essex at only 16?
Thank you very much guys.
X

here's his birth registration;
England & Wales, FreeBMD Birth Index, 1837-1915 about William Harrison Keyte Name: William Harrison Keyte Year of Registration: 1888 Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun District: Edmonton County: Essex, Hertfordshire, Middlesex Volume: 3a Page: 359
It would be interesting to see the original transcript for the 1911 census........ it should state how many hildren Eliza had and how many had died. I think we could work out the deaths for any children as the family only lived in 2 places....... so maybe this would help??
If William did die in Orsett he may have gone there for work? The other children seemed to leave home at an early age, whether to work or marry so I wouldn't rule that death out, but like you say only the death cert will tell us for sure.

I have details of Williams brother Alfred keyte born 1894 who was killed in action in the 1st world war. The MOD at the time stated in their paper work in 1919 that Alfred had to surving brother Harry a soldier serving somewhere in Ireland (I would love to know what became of him) and George. So based on that information William must have died between the 1901 census and the MOD report of 1919. So the William Keyte death of Mar 1905, age 16, Orsett, 4a, 312 is looking very likely.
If he did go to Orsett to work maybe his death was work related?

I have decided to order that death certificate for William keyte 1905. I will let you know what it reveals when I receive it, (In about a weeks time).
With regards to Harry's marriage certificate dated 12th July 1919 a few but's come to mind. The age states he was 24 born 1895, but the 1901 census gives his age a 1 born 1900 (a bit of a difference). Harry has also said that his father was a Frederick Keyte, a stoker? Again I find this a bit odd as any information regarding father Frederick Keyte has idicated him to be a builders plasterer all his working life. (what is a stoker?)
The 1919 MOD report regarding brother Alfred is dated April of that year so I guess it is possible that he could have been back in England of July that same year.
i also am unable to find a birth ref for a Harry keyte born about 1900. This makes me wonder if he was given the name Henry on his birth certificate as per the 1911 census KEYTE, Henry Inmate M 11 1900 School Industrial Middlese Wood Green.
Thank you
George

Hi George,
Well Henry would fit better than Harry;
Surname First name(s) District Vol Page
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Births Dec 1899 (>99%) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Keyte Henry Edmonton 3a 401
However I cannot see a Harry or Henry Keyte with a father Frederick in 1901 other than your Keyte family.......... so maybe harry/Henry lied about his age???

Hello Dee
Yes i did think that,that if he is the same Harry / Henry keyte that he lied about his age or maybe he just did not know how old he was? Looking at the marriage certificate it looks as thou he could just about write his own name lol.
So let me know if I am right in what you are saying that there was no other keyte famiy with a Harry / Henry born from 1900 with the fathers name Frederick. And if so the Harry Keyte found in the 1901 census can be the only Harry Keyte who married Eliza Still in July 1919.
This then makes me think when looking for army service details would have he have joined under the name Harry or Henry?
It seems that I will have to order a birth certificate for Keyte Henry Edmonton 3a 401 Birth Dec 1899.
Thank you!
