Find Ancestors

Hi good people of GR, I find myself asking for your help again.
This time it is my mothers side that I am having trouble with. I am looking for my grandmother's parents and siblings. Unfortunately they were "Kelly's" living in Liverpool,probably in the Everton/West Derby area, and most probably came over from Ireland in the mid-late 1800's.
I have a guessed birthdate of app. 1865 for her father John her mother Ellen about the same time (mum thinks Ellens surname was O'Sullivan and may have came from Australia?) They had four children Ellen c1880 (Liverpool) Margaret c1882 (Liverpool)Claire/Clara c1884 (Liverpool) and my nan Nora Dec 1899 (Liverpool) Unfortunately when we moved here in the 1960's with my nan there was no room for her suitcase of birth certificates wedding certificates etc etc. and it all stayed in the house in Liverpool, that was then demolished along with all that history, sad I know.
I have checked BMD, 1881 census but they are a little over whelming as you can imagine all those John and Ellen Kelly's
and finding the six of them together is almost impossible.
Could any kind soul out there like to pick up the puzzle?

Did Nora have a middle name please?

There seems rather a large gap between the 3rd and 4th child. can you check the birth dates in any way?

Hi FBG no as far as i am aware she was just Nora, and Jonesey there may have been a miscarriage/ still born between the 3rd and 4th child but not sure i am afraid....

There does not seem to be a Nora(h) Kelly birth registered in the area Dec qtr 1899 or Mar qtr 1900. The one shown as Bootle (Dec 1899) is in fact Bootle, Cumberland not Lancs.

Any occupation for father John?

For a Dec birth I would have expected a 1900 march reg.
But could this be her.
Its in Lancashire.

I've got 8b 178 Toxteth park as her birth Jonesey and FBG I have no idea as far as Johns occupation. my mum was the last of 11 children and they were dead and gone by the time she came along sorry....

Maybe her marriage cert for Johns details would help.

I am finding nothing in 1891 or 1901or 1911 with all those names.

Hi yep thats the one ive got for her as well her birthday was 5th December,
I don't understand how they left it so long to reg. the birth though

But unless you have the cert how do you know it is her for sure please?

I have had the same problems with my searches FBG they are quite hard to find considering there was 6 of them!

Definitely not the Toxteth Park Norah unless the parents names are wrong.

Well that is true FBG just wish full thinking on my part maybe.

I really think you need Noras marriage cert to try and get some concrete details to go on Chris.

And Jonesey is doing an excellent job of discounting the births put forward.
Maybe she lied about her year of birth?

Robinas husband is William,not John,so do you think Noras father may have been William instead?

You maybe right about that FBG as there was some worries about that when she died (8b 538) in 1979 her youngest son said she was younger than they all thought but it was never bought up again I was only 16 at the time so never paid much interest

As FBG says, go back to basics. Get Nora's marriage cert which hopefully will give you her age at marriage and her fathers details. When you have those then start looking for her in census records.

Sorry FBG no my gut feeling is that it is not the same people the sisters are not there and the son William, as far as I am aware there was no son
