Sophia Kelly{not sure ot spelling} was my great grand mother who lived in Ilford came over from Irland and married my great grand farther Mr Harker who then went on to have my nan Eva Alice, Sydney, Abbie, Marrie,joseph,Doris Vera.Died late 1940's early 19 50's and Mr Harker died 24 Dec late 1920's 1930's

hello going through a old box of my mothers stuff i found some information on Sophia. Her full name was Jane Sophia Adelaide Kelly after she married her surname changed to Harker. she died 15/03/1950 aged 62 yrs which would mean she was born in 1888 i still can't find a birth but she came from Ireland so maybe that is why.

What does HOUSEHOLD HACKER mean as surname was Harker?

Very often names were written or spelt incorrectly, remember some of our ancestors couldn't read or write. Or sometimes the lettering used then was quite fancy and easily misunderstood and put down as a different letter.

If you look at the name HACKER, it's just one letter wrong for HARKER.... and seeing as the christian names and area matches I would definately say this is your couple.

Just take the bottom curve off the C in Hacker and you would have Harker.

I was looking at birth records not very good at this am and patrick came up!!!

I was always lead to believe my great grand mother was from Ireland???? does not look that way.

Were they catholic as a rosery has been passed down and as my mother and grand mother has died i have no one to ask these questions so thank so much for your help and information.

Sorry-got called away. I really have no idea if they were Catholic!!! . It doesn't look as though the Kelly side was,but perhaps one of the women they married were.
