I am ttrying to find out when my grandmother died I think it was around 1930 but I am not sure. Again we think it was the London/Portsmouth area. She was born Louisa Kingswell married a William Hatfield in Yorkshire and then married my granfather William Keefe. I have tried all BMD on this site, any help would bwe grateful

Deaths between 1916 and 1983 are not yet transcribed.

You would need to look at the full indexes - year by year and quarter by quarter

GR do not hold any BMD records - you are transferred to other sites

Will check 1930

Have done that on this site, I have tried getting the death cert for Louisa E Keeffe AMJ 1930 Edmontion Vol 3a 503 but according to the authoprities it is the wrong one. I have trolled each index until 1948 no result

Hi,

Yes that is her, and she had. George. Eric. Frank. Charlie. Mollie and my mum Patricia who is the youngest (the others are not in the right order). When she died the children were split up as my grandfather was in the Royal Marines. Consequently we have no idea when she died. Mum is the only one alive again the problem, she can remember being told she had died very early and Mollie brought her up for a short time. William Keefe married again in 1952 on the i.o.w. qwhich is why looked up to 1948 for her death.

Yes I have drawn a blank, my mum was born 1928. I have been told that just after she was born she had a stroke, I can only think that perhaps she did not die then and was put in a home or something I have no idea. Since he did not marry until 1952 is a bit suspect. I cannot think of anything else to do, which I was hoping some one might know something. This is a mystery, I do have their tree though, she is the mystery. I know they did live at Henley in a house that went down to the river. After that nothing.

I did not think of O Keefe, thank you. Now I think of it Frank (aka as Neville) always called himself O Keefe. Thanks will try that. Grandad did go that way to live vaguely remember the town prior to going to Portsmoth to train other Navy/Rotal Marines personnel.

Is Henley anywhere near Staines, does anyone know?

Valerie

Valerie Report 3 Nov 2009 18:32

I have spoken to mum and although at 81 she does get confused a bit, she says that they had a bungalow that went to the river in Staines, so it was me that got it wrong. Mind you she also says that one of her brothers was born near staines, I can only find eric at portsmouth. and George at Alverstoke whereever that is. So it looks like this is the one. Hope so thanks a lot. Will gfive it a try and let you know. If you can find anything else out I would be grateful. George 1913. Mollie 1916. William Charlie 1918. Erice 1923. Frank (Neville) 1926 and mum Patyricia 1928.

Val.

Hi Valerie, glad it was helpful, let us know if it is the right one.

Valerie

Valerie Report 3 Nov 2009 18:40

Thanks everyone. Glad to have hopefully found it. It has beena nightmare, everything is tied up with Royal Marines, even though been to Kew all I get is Royal Marines Royal Marines, will not give anything out about relatives of Ropyal Marine personnell. We have had trouble with William Henry Keefes siblings and his Granfather (Father being born in Gibralter) nobody has anything, not even Church Records at Gib. So I am very thankful. I am so thick I did not think of O Keefe. Perhaps mum is wrong about the bungalow and Henley is right I do not know.

Thanks everyone the sad thing about this family, is that the only time all the siblings were ever together at one time, was at my mother and fathers 40th wedding anniversary, it was hard work but worth it. Who says that the old days were best sometimes. I took her on a pilgimage to the i.o.w. at the age of 75 after we have done the tree and found addresses and her relatives and she said it was the first time she ever felt she belonged. Sad but these sites and trees etc., are good for some. This would be the completion for her if we could find where she is buried and take her there. We have gone back to 1600 for Kingswell side not very far for the Keefes. It will please her so much thank you every one for trying to help me help her. Once again than k you

Hi Val, hope it works out. Certificates can be ordered online from the GRO for seven pounds using the info I posted earlier for death registration in Staines.
