Find Ancestors

Hi, I've been trying to find out the maiden name of one of my ancestors but I'm not quite sure how to go about it. If anyone could help out it would be really appreciated. I'll list the information I have:

married name: Priscilla Joyce
born: 1838/1837 Canterbury, Kent
spouse: Thomas Joyce 1830/1829 (Galway, Ireland)

they lived in Caernarvon, Wales where they had five children:
Walter Edmund Joyce (1865)
Priscilla J Joyce (1866)
Thomas Stephen Joyce (1870)
John Joyce (1877)
William Charles Joyce (1879)

The birth certificate of any of those children would give you the mother's maiden name. - A cert would cost around £9.50 from GRO.

I will go and see if I can find anything which may give a clue.

Definitely makes the birth cert a necessity.

I have looked EVERYWHERE for a marriage but I just cannot find anything!

It looks like they may not have actually married so the only way is to buy a birth cert I am afraid.

This is the only 'possible' I can find in any of the census for a Priscilla who fits bit
it doesn't help as shi is working away from home as a servant AND I believe her
name has been mistranscribed but I can't read the image.

Can anyone else read it?

I was looking at her too. I think in 1851 she is transcribed as Annion and living with her relatives. Can't locate her in 1841 though.

Well done to you Dea for finding the 1841. That was the final piece the puzzle needed. I thought i had looked at every variation of the name Annion but still hadn't hit on the right one!

P.S. Yes Patchem, there seem to be quite a lot of Aiano's in the Kent area - I just wish I had known that when I was trying to read the 1861 census. - I actually had it but it didn't sound like a name to me.
