Trying to find Jones

I am trying to find info on my great grandfather JAMES JONES C1857. He married Elizabeth Holland on 01/09/1877 at Withington Lancs. The marriage certificate states he was a groom, his father as George Jones and the witnesses were John and Margaret Jones. I have traced the Hollands back to pre 1787 in Bedstone Shropshire and Brampton Bryan Hereford, but cannot find the right Jones'. On 1881 and 1901 census James states his birthplace as Tenbruy Wells Worcs. Searches at the GRO have been unsuccessful. I believe James and Elizabeth were in service in Didsbury when they married and by 1880 when my grandfather Harry Alexander Jones was born, they had moved to Dukinfield/Stalybridge Cheshire, where James was a groom/domestic servant. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
