I am now back to her grandparents William 1806 and Harriet 1811 as this is precensus guess thats the end . being the novice I am probs with aunts /uncles . 1851 census shows her father Samuel 1835 with siblings Harriet 1832 Hannah 1837 Sarah 1845 Clara 1846 Arthur 1850 1861shows only William and Hannah . I cant find a trace of the others any ideas or am I notlooking at census right and whydo birth records not show mothers maiden name ? kris

	Kris What you see on the internet is birth registrations. You have to buy the certificates to find other information such as mmn MMN are shown on the registrations from about 1911 ............... they are not shown before because quite simply they were not shown in the record books kept by most of the Registry Offices or by the General Register Office. Thus they are not available for transcription by those volunteers who are currently doing all the transcriptions. You might want to go to your county of interest and see if they have access to bmds on the web, and see if mmn are shown. I know that Lancashire BMD site does show more mmn for earlier times than on the freebmd site. Other counties do not. Just enter (county) bmd into your seach engine ... and then save it into your Favourites so you can easily find it again! sylvia

Being young it must have been Clara Lowe I met and misheard name . Have everything 4 Samuel as this thread started with his daughter Clara
