a member on ancestry has martha jenks born 3/4/1876death 4/4/1957 husband alfred jones 1876-1933 they had a daughter elsie 1911-1985

In 1871 the family is transcribed Jinks:

No Martha Jenks on the index pages so the one Richard posted could be it ,just as some of mine have an
"o "instead of" a " in my surname

margaret i know that her parents were george and appley h and that she was borrn in 1876 and her name was jenks not jinks

that info about MARTHA marryin ALFRED and having a daughter called ELSIE was right si it was deffinately JENKS coz that was my grandmothers nan

well Lisa you could try sending for that cert.from the offical site http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/
and ask for a check using her fathers name and if it doesn't match they will give you part of the
£7 back. I think they keep about £3

Lisa just because her name was jenks it could have been mis-heard or wrote down incorrectly when her parents registered her birth.
I checked the complete bmd and there is no martha jenks birth registered in 1876.

the info i got of my grandmother was that MARTHA was born JENKS and married into a JONES and with the info i got by looking on here is that her mum n dad were GEORGE and APPLEY H that is all i have and they were from the BILSTON area and they resided in GREEN CROFT area of BILSTON
